Image Cropper

Crop images interactively with aspect-ratio presets like 1:1 and 16:9.

Cropping reframes a picture: tightening a composition, fitting a strict avatar circle, or producing consistent social media ratios. This cropper gives you a draggable selection box with optional ratio locks — 1:1 for avatars, 4:3 for classic prints, 16:9 for video thumbnails and heroes.

Draw the region directly on the image, nudge it into place, and see the exact pixel dimensions of your selection before exporting. The crop is applied with pixel precision and saved in the format you choose.

Like everything on PixKit, the image is handled by your own browser via the Canvas API. Confidential screenshots and personal photos are cropped locally and never uploaded.

How to use

  1. Drop in an image (cropping works on one image at a time for precision).
  2. Optionally lock a ratio preset, then drag on the image to draw the crop region.
  3. Adjust the box until the framing is right — dimensions update live.
  4. Press Crop and download the result.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I crop a perfect square for an avatar?
Select the 1:1 preset first — the selection box is then constrained to a square however you drag it. Position it over the face or subject and apply.
Does cropping reduce quality?
Cropping itself is lossless — it selects pixels. Quality only changes when the result is re-encoded, and choosing PNG or high-quality WebP/JPEG keeps that invisible.
Can I crop to exact pixel dimensions, like 1200×628?
Lock the closest matching ratio (1200×628 is 2.35:1... practically, use the free-form box), size the selection while watching the live dimension readout, and export. For repeated exact sizes, crop once then use the Resizer for pixel-perfect output.
Why one image at a time?
Every photo deserves its own composition. Batch tools that apply one rectangle to many images produce awkward crops; here you frame each shot deliberately.
